New Hays CISD Elementary School
School Highlights:
First Day of School: August 13th, 2024!
The school is being built within the community of Anthem on approximately 13 acres of land behind Phase 2/3. Construction began on the 117,611 square-foot campus in early 2023, and features the district’s next generation prototype of elementary campus design. The campus will be able to accommodate as many as 900 students, grades pre-K through 5th.
The total project cost, including construction, furniture, technology, and start-up supplies is $48.3 million.

Mascot ~ Cullen Cubs
Name of School ~ Jim Cullen Elementary School / K-5th Jim is a retired Hays CISD teacher (Barton Middle School), a past president of the Hays CISD Texas State Teachers Association chapter, an early and longtime member of the Hays Education Foundation, a past regional teacher of the year, the district photographer for more than a decade following his retirement, and the recipient of a life-time achievement award from the district. He was highly regarded as a teacher by the district and his students.
Principal ~ Elizabeth Lara will be the principal, and was formerly at Ralph Pfluger Elementary.
